Jesse Davis Selkirk
Jesse Davis Selkirk is an accomplished artist, performer, songwriter, music producer, and educator. In his own artistic practice he has spent the last 13 years producing genre defying electronic music under the name Sleepwreck. Prominent label East Van Digital called him "One of the most exciting artists in the lauded (Western Canadian) electronic scene", and his Disasterpiece EP “The sound of a star being born.” He has performed at festivals large and small across Western Canada, including Shambhala Electronic Music Festival (arguably the most important event of its kind in Canada). Parallel to his own artistic career, Jesse is also a respected music educator. Establishing his Song Writers’ Education And Training (or SWEAT!) Project with funding from the Saskatchewan Arts Board in 2009, he would go on to mentor hundreds of aspiring songwriters in high schools around Saskatoon and Vancouver, including working with the prestigious Sarah MacLachlan School of Music, and acting as full-time Artist In Residence at Nutana Collegiate for three years. Talented alumni of his SWEAT! Program who have gone on to do great things of their own include: Alex Bent [and The Emptiness], Ellen Froese, Anthony Allegretto (Greenwing), and Tyson Moore (Medistate). In addition to his work with aspiring songwriters, Jesse has also maintained an active teaching schedule with the Saskatoon Academy of Music, offering instruction in guitar, bass, and voice.
